Naples care · field notes
First, find out what “peptide care” means.
Begin by naming the medicine and the condition it is meant to treat. Then compare an approved medicine, a made-to-order medicine and a product labelled for research.
A peptide is a short chain made of the building blocks found in proteins. Insulin is one example. The word names a substance; it leaves the kind of care being offered unclear.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the US agency that reviews medicines. Preparing medicine to order is called compounding.
| What is offered | What the record says | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| An approved medicine | Semaglutide, sold as Ozempic or Wegovy, is among the FDA-approved medicines. Tirzepatide is another, sold as Mounjaro or Zepbound. Ozempic and Mounjaro injections treat type 2 diabetes. Wegovy and Zepbound injections help with weight loss. Checked September 26, 2026. FDA medicine records | What is the medicine’s exact name? Is it a tablet or an injection? What is it meant to treat? |
| A made-to-order medicine | Some health needs cannot be met with an approved medicine; a medicine prepared to order may fill that gap. The FDA does not approve the made-to-order medicine itself. Checked September 26, 2026. FDA’s compounding explanation | Why is a made-to-order version being considered for this person? |
| A research-labelled product | Sellers offering unapproved drugs for human use received FDA warning letters. It said selling those drugs across state lines broke federal law, even with a “research use only” label. Checked September 26, 2026. FDA on research-labelled products | Is the seller offering something for people to take despite a label saying it is only for research? |
What approval tells you
The FDA approves a specific medicine for named uses. Approval for one illness does not also mean approval for a different reason for treatment. The term peptide gives no answer about whether a product has approval. Checked September 26, 2026. FDA explains approval
Ask for the medicine’s name, not just the name of a programme. Ask if FDA approval covers the reason this medicine is being offered. Ask for any unfamiliar words to be explained.
