Online or in person: check the care process.

Compare an online health visit with going to a clinic. Ask who checks your health, how to ask questions and what happens if you need a test or examination.

An online health visit is often called telehealth. The health professional reviewing your health and planning your care is called a clinician. Ask how you will talk with that person.

Choose a visit format by the questions it can answer.
Visit typeWhat to discussWhat to confirm
An in-person clinic

Ask how the visit will explore your goal and health history.

Who sees you, where any tests happen and who explains the results.

An online visit

Ask whether you will talk live or exchange information for review.

How to ask the clinician a question, and how an in-person exam could be arranged.

The Florida rule follows your location

For routine online care while you are in Florida, the treating person needs permission that Florida accepts. This may be a Florida licence. It may be a licence under an agreement between states that includes Florida. Or it may be Florida registration for online care from another state. Checked September 28, 2026. Florida’s telehealth law

Ask for the licence or registration number and where to check it. A company office address does not prove the treating person has permission to care for you in Florida.

Florida requires online care to meet the same care rules as an in-person visit. The clinician must also write notes in your medical record to the same standard. Checked September 28, 2026. Florida’s care and record rules
